Martells French polishing was asked by a old customer to revive the finish on this pair of chairs.it was on closer inspection that the chairs where not made from solid rosewood but beech the rosewood grain had been cleverly painted on to give the appearance of rosewood. Here are some pictures showing on the backrest where the finish has been worn away revealing the beech underneath.
